I have been around long enough to know that you knew what you were starting with this thread and how your worded the original post so of course people would think that you were talking about BH.

I can understand the sentiment if you have people who keep asking for sympathy but don't want to better their situation and like the drama because it gives them something to talk about. But i really think those people are pretty few and far between.

Sometime people just really are having a crap time. A really crap time and they are probably venting on BH because sometimes it just helps to talk about it. Or they are trying to seek help or find others to help them see the positives in a bad situation. If someone is truly having a bad time, they feel horrible enough already, i really don't think they would be trying to "out compete" others for the saddest story.

IRL, maybe it depends on the people you hang around, and the content of their character? When my friends and I go through tough times (and there have been some very tough times) we just support each other, there is no one upping of our suffering. We know you can't compare one persons problem to another, we all deal with things differently.

It was a thread on general social trends, wasn't it??

Anyway, that's how I answered it.

    Far out.

YES! It's like birth stories. No matter what happened to you, somebody else's was worse because blah, blah, blah. You can't just discuss it, you have to decide on who was worse off.

Does that qualify as a personal attack?Frankly, if you have been around here long enough to know me and how I work, you would know that I always speak generally and 99.999% of the time, I am asking things out of sheer curiosity. Your post to me seems like you think I regularly start threads to start fights and be mean to people...I would honestly like to see when and where I have done this in the past.ETA: Also, could you please tell me how my original OP (which I modified by ADDING the disclaimer and not deleting a single word in the main post) shows that I was aiming this at the BH community?
