    Default Overweight and Pregnant

    Hi All,

I am currently 6 weeks preg and have been recommended to have the 7 week (early preg) ultrasound just because I am nervous about MC and so my friend thought it would put my mind at ease.

I am just worried that it will be hard to see anything because of my weight. Has anyone had any experience with this? Any info would be helpful.

    Thanks,

Your weight won't make a difference to what you can see. when i've had ultrasonds before about 8weeks they were internal so could see more.

    good luck

    Hi

    Congratulations!!!

You will have an internal ultrasound done if u feel comfortable. It's affectionately known as a "dild0" cam!! It doesn't hurt and the sonographers are discreet.

For most of my early ultrasounds they had to use the internal one (aka d!ldo cam lol) to get a good look and measurements.
First one was a bit confronting when the tech lubed it up eek where u putting that thing?!?! Hubby didn't know where to look lol
All the best for your pregnancy!!

Thanks girls, that puts my mind at ease. I was so worried. Having had PCOS for a few years, I've had plenty of those internal scans, very unpleasant.

12 weeks and after will be external. I'm overweight myself and no one had any trouble seeing the baby. Even had an amnio. All good.

Thanks, I guess I thought I would need to lose more weight before getting opregnant would actually work, so now I feel a little disappointed that I didn't lose more. Especially when I think of how much I will show, or not.

Did you guys show much? Did you have any luck with your weight while pregnant? I would still like to focus on exercise and eating well but is it possible to still lose weight when pregnant?

It really depends on how big you are. But even at 180 kgs they can see what they need to, They may ask to lay in different positions to get the right picture.

As for showing that to depends on how big you are too.

I've always gained weight easy. But for some reason while pregnant I didn't gain anything. And I was having fish n chips once a week too!

So when I gave birth I was 10 kg lighter than my starting weight. Put it all back on though!

I was lucky and don't suggest you do that

I was 78 kilos, took out the implant, and assumed it'd take us a good 6 months + to conceive, so I'd have plenty of time to get to 60-ish kilos.

Well we conceived the day after the implant was taken out.

I'm concerned that even though I'm just overweight, not obese, they'll have trouble doing an ultrasound.

I watched a youtube video where a 350 pound woman got an external ultrasound and had no issues....that eased my mind!
