Unfair. She is just off 16 and there is just 2 years between them. But there has to be a line. I would hate my parents if that were me.

Exactly this boy is not a predator who was preying on some innocent person. They were in a long term relationship.

I really think the law needs to be fixed in this type of situation.

I will give my own situation as an example. I was 14½, my boyfriend was just 18. I was extremely naive, even declining to go to the movies because I was afraid of what might happen in the movie theatre. I knew he had had sex previously and he knew that I hadn't. I decided that if he asked, then I would refuse.

The problem was he didn't exactly ask. From his perspective I was consenting and co-operative. My my perspective I was terrified but didn't know how to say "stop".

    -----------

Now I was well aware of the law and thus I felt unable to seek any help for myself because if I did then he would be subject to an overzealous penalty. What he did was wrong, and had really devastating effects upon me. But he had no malice and was simply young and ignorant of the effects of his actions. Yes, I understand that is part of the reason for the law - but the penalty associated is so gross as to be unreasonable.

In short, the direct effect of this law upon myself was not to protect me, but to close off any avenues for me to seek support or help.

The parents all consented to the relationship prior. I think its totally unfair. If they were busted in the act, theres no proof of something happening.

    Default Fair Or Unfair?

Wow, I think that's very unfair, given that it's a relationship and everyone knew about it prior to this happening. Plus the girl consented and was nearly 16.
