When i give bank statements i just give copies of my savings account and not my everyday transaction account. I figure this confirms my identity and shows that i have adequate savings for bond/rent and to move.
I know some people just get a black marker and cross out everything apart from rent payments and their wages.

It's over the top, isn't it? But if you don't comply, they've got the upper hand so your chances of being approved diminish even further.

What about giving them a copy where you block out all irrelevant information?

    I've always had to.
Pays lips, income statement, bank statements, rental ledgers..
I figured they want to see what I'm getting and what's going out to make sure I could cover rent.

I've never had to, ever. With all properties I've lived in they just rang my boss to confirm that I was employed and what my wage is.

I have but only because it is classed as a form of ID and it was the only way I could make up the 100 points. I blanked out account details though.
