Thanks so much for your replies. Glad to here you've have a great experience with Dr John, Maybenumber3, as I will now likely be referred over to her.
Rach85 - I'm am doing shared care, which I'm very happy with, but I need a c-section this time due to poor recovery from 3c (nearly 4th) deg tears last time so I was referred to an ob for the caesarean.
Thanks again - reassuring to hear such positive things about Shoalheven Hospital

    Default Caesarean at Shoalhaven Hospital

Just thought I would add to this thread post-birth in case anyone else is researching in the near future.

I had my c-section with Dr John at Shoalhaven and everything went smoothly. Dr John was professional and did a great job (I have healed well). She bulk-billed my appointment (I only had to see her once as I had already started with another ob - Dr Johnson, who then referred me across due to a delivery date difficulty).

All the staff involved with the c-section were great - kept me informed of everything that was happening and created a relaxed, friendly but professional atmosphere.

It is also worth mentioning that the maternity ward midwives were excellent. They were very friendly and helpful and my stay was really pleasant.

All in all, a very positive experience.
