I'm new to the nowra shoalhaven area and I'm wanting to know can anyone refer me to an obstetrician who bulk bills as my 1st pregnancy my gp in coffs harbour was an obstetrician/gp. What public hospital would recommend as a good birthing unit I'm not due till 10.3.13

Shoalhaven hospital is supposed to be really good.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find any doctor/ob that bulk bills down here.

I can't really recommend anyone in nowra but dr mieke flore in milton ( 1 hour south of nowra ) is wonderful, shes an ob and gp. Pm me for details if you want.

I can say I personally wouldn't be going to dr brian hoolahan, he's a gyno in, nowra, I've never heard a good thing about him but thats just my opinion.

Oh wow that doesn't sound good

I haven't had a baby at shoalhaven hospital, I have mine at milton hospital.

Can you get in to see a doctor and get a referral for an u/s ?

My dp has a gp in nowra, he sees dr vicky mcCartney, I've heard shes really good.

How far along are you ?

    Hello All,
Any more info on obstetricians in Nowra/Shoalhaven would be great. I am currently booked with Dr Johnson, who was recommended to me, but he can only perform my caesarean on my son's birthday or a week later (a few days after my due date). i am thinking of swapping to another Obstetrician and was told my other options are Dr Roshini John or Dr Paris-Brown. Does anyone have experience with these other doctors?
    Thanks

I had my 3rd bub at Shoalhaven hospital in March this year. I was in hospital for 2 weeks before she was born due to pregnancy induced hypertension. I had Dr John, she is wonderful ! I would highly recommend her. She does her c sections on Fridays.

    Shoalhaven Hospital is fabulous.

Dr John is my ob/gyn and is bulk billed because she works out of the hospital. But you need to be high risk to qualify for her services as far as I'm aware? Worth a phone call to ask though. No others bulk bill, that said Dr Hoolihan did when he filled in for Dr John for me.

Any particular reason you want an ob? Most people here do shared care- gp and midwives. It is fabulous imo!

    Congrats on your pregnancy
