Default kindergarten or kindergarten funded childcare?

    Hi all,

So I have DS in a kinder funded childcare centre, and I was just wondering if I should leave him there or put him in kindergarten next yr when he turns 4?

What would be the difference? Aside from the cost?

Im sort of thinking about leaving him where he is as its convenient for us, and he has made friends, but Im a little unsure of how it all works. Is the education side of it any different?

It really depends what you are needing. If you need long day-care and flexibility with pick up times then a day-care centre is better. Stand alone kindergarten probably offers a better preparation for school in that it is tailored to the pre-prep age group. It is much cheaper too (this means some parent volunteering but this can be a great way to be involved and make friends). There are pros and cons. My kids have gone to Wynnum Manly Community Kindergarten which was fabulous. The other c&k kindy's in our area are great too. The c&k web-site might be a good one to look at.
