Hey, how's the process going? I know with my DP his mother legally changed his surname without his BF permission. Basically she sent the paperwork to his last known address and because he never responded in the given time frame it was done. No hastles what so ever. Mind the BF basically abandoned him so a slightly different situation... MIL also waited til DP was old enough to make the decision himself

    Hi
I am having lots of hassles with BF at the moment so I haven't thought much about the name change TBH. I want to try and approach him with it on a level playing field but I doubt in any way he will be ok with it.. wishful thinking LOL. His ex wifes daughter took his name when he and her married however so she would have the same surname as her sisters (their kids) and her BF must have agreed to that so I can try and go with that angle? LOL

Hope it all works out. As I said, my MIL changed DP when he was 10 and able to make the decision for himself. Before doing that DP used his new name at school any way. Its sorta an aka situation. Where most of his things were in one name even though legally his name was different. I know when applying for defacto through defence they allow aka as a change of name

I asked BF if he'd consider allowing DD to change her last name to mine, and he's gone off the deep end about it. Was just a bloody question!!!

Ours never even got to court. FOB saw all the paperwork and was advised by his lawyer not to bother and just let DS1 change it!
    Yay!
