Default Stitches have opened. Maybe TMI

Hope this isn't too much information I now have a open wound on the side of my vagina, I assume it was stitched and now it has come open I only realized when I was going to the toilet and it was burning, it looks very red and is about 7cm long. My son is now 10 days old and it has been open for about 3 days. I got antibiotics from the nurse but just wanting to know does it heal naturally? Hope this isn't too much information
    Thanks in advance

I bust my stitches and because of where it is my doctor let it heal without stitching it back up. But mine was only about 4cm (max).

Have you seen a doc? They'd be able to tell you whether it should be restitched.

    Congrats on your new baby!

Ouch hunni u poor thing. Go to your dr, hopefully they will say it can heal on its own, but if not, better to get it seen asap.

It will heal a bit slowly due to being in an area where the skin is constantly moving.. If you can cover it with a dressing that would be good, maybe impossible with location.. Just keep very clean, salt baths would help, take all antibiotics and should be fine.. Too late to put new stiches back in. Poor you

I'm not a dr but 7cm to me, warrants a re-stitch. The fact it was stitched to begin with says it was too deep or long to heal naturally.

Stitching after 12 hours causes infection.. Due to being a warm area it will heal slowly but surely if you have any yellow discharge from the wound of if the redness spreads, or you have swelling and significant pain see your doc otherwise antibiotics if they are the correct type should be fine.
