    Default Top up feeds...

    Hi,
I have had to start expressing and topping up my 11 day old. Under guidance of midwife I commenced her on S26 but I feel it is causing tummy pains. Does anyone have any suggestions? TIA

Our 2 week old is also having s26 top ups, but we are also expressing milk as well and using this when we can instead. I think the formula does give them tummy aches, not sure what the answer to this is, other than hoping with time it will improve?

From experience I would put bub on Nan HA Gold or a 100% whey based formula until her little tummy is used to the 'heaviness' of the formula...

    Good luck hun!

You might just have to experiment to see which formula agrees with bub. I comp fed DD from 3 days. I found that any 'gold' formulas upset her tummy badly and her stools changed in a bad way (for a mostly BFed baby). Her tummy actually prefered casein based formula and I had her on SMA. She's a smarty-pants so I don't think missing out on the Omega3 did any harm! It's suprising how much the wrong formula can upset their tums when it makes up such a small part of their diet.

My baby ger was pooing so much after we supp her w Nan HA Gold. It was so disruptive & affected her sleep cos she was hungry again after each poo. Hv since switched to Bellamy's organic & everyone is happy she still poos everyday but maybe once or twice each day only.

I would stay away from NanHA at the moment the formulation has changed and it is making a lot of babies sick. Bellamys is a good option or any other formula that is whey based. S26 made my first daughter constipated and gave her bad wind.

DS had constipation with S26. He was on Nan Gold but we stopped that due to the issues... He is on Karicare Gold and no issues so far.

DD hated S-26, I found she was best on plain Karicare until I switched to full-time FF and a specialty formula... its all a guessing game in the beginning as all bubs are different but in general gold formulas tend to cause more constipation than standard.
