    Default How Much?

    Hi Everyone,

Wondering if someone can help me....

DS is just over 6 months old and I dont know how much solid food to feed him. Ive looked through previous posts but cant really find any info. I know each bub is different but Im just wondering what an average amount would be....

He has been on solids since 4.5 months and is currently having the following:
Breakfast - 1 ice cube of fruit with half a teaspoon of prunes mixed with 1.5 tablespoons of farex and boiled water.
Lunch - Still to introduce solids. I give a rusk every now and again but was thinking maybe 2 cubes of fruit no farex?
Dinner - 2 ice cubes of veges with 1.5 tablespoons of farex.

Is this not enough do you think? He isnt loosing weight but isnt gaining much either. I also BF before each meal too, and he has some water after.

    Thanks for any info....

I always worked on the general rule that if there was any left in the bowl, then I was feeding enough as they were eating til they were full, not til they were finished.

If the bowl was empty then the next feed I'd put in an extra ice cube of food.

I always and still do give DD as much as she wants to eat. She is perfectly healthy and always has been so I know she isn't eating too much. With spoonfed food I would feed her until she turned her head or started to push the spoon away with her hand. She also did a lot of self feeding and at 6 months that meant she played with her food more than actually ingested any of it.

At 6 months food is not terribly important as milk (BF or formula) has a much higher nutritional content for them. I always felt that meal times were about getting to know food. Having fun playing with it, tasting it and trying lots of different things

Thanks for the replies. I'm a bit scared of feeding him until he stops because I done that with bf and ebm and he was vomiting because he was drinking too much for the size of his tummy... Cheeky thing. But I might just have to give it a go and hope for the best. I'll also start lunch from tomorrow and see how he goes with the extra meal in there too
