    Default Secondary infertility

Just wondering, for anyone who conceived their first child naturally and then had difficulty conceiving their second, what caused this? (if found), what did you do about it, and if you fell pregnant again, what do you think helped you?

Sorry for all the questions! Thanks!

    Hi Lovable,

Yep that was me! It took almost 2 years to conceive DS2 for us. I was diagnosed with unexplained secondary infertility and my FS suggested a laparoscopy to check for any blockages. After the op he told me everything looked fine so I thought what a waste of time that was!!!

Well it must have done something because I fell pregnant the very next cycle! At the time i was looking at IVF options which thankfully we didn't need. I now have my gorgeous 5 month old baby boy.

For me the lap was the best thing I could have done!!

Having trouble falling the second time is really cr@p and I wish you all the best xx

This is me, I think my DS is a miracle too. He was conceived after coming off the pill 2 months, we started for number 2 when he was 2.5 and this has become the biggest regret of my life, wish we started sooner. Nearly 5 years on and currently on my 5th IVF cycle and still no baby. DH's sperm is not the best and I had severe endo removed 2 years ago, so the endo has damaged my egg supply and quality. My advice is to get everything checked out to rule out any issues, which I hope you don't have, just don't delay. Best of luck

TTC a second baby just over 2 years. Got a second opinion six weeks ago and the FS did a lap and hysto and found stage 4 endo. Found out okay our only nance is with IVF. Wish I had gotten a second opinion early as my first FS didn't take us seriously because I'm 25 years ( 24 when we started seeing her) and already have 1 child.

    Hi Lovable

Yep, that was us too. Fell pregnant with DS as soon as we tried and then took 2.5 years to finally fall pregnant again with number 2 now baking!

*Hugs to you* Having Secondary Fertility truly sucks, its like constant guilt ~ feel guilty for wanting a second child, especially for those for don't yet have one, guilt that you aren't providing that much wanted sibling for your LO and don't get the support from doctors etc that would be received for primary infertility because you already have a child, so frustrating!

I agree with all the PP, don't wait...get all the tests done..good luck to you

DS was unplanned. We were TTC #2 for almost three 1/2 years before I fell pregnant again. We'd just started getting tests & referrals done to see if DS was pure luck when I fell pregnant.

I'll never forget casually telling GP "Well I'm due today but I'm not PMSy. Nah no point in a test I don't feel pregnant!" then going back a week later and saying "Guess what?"

We don't know what caused it or why I fell pregnant when we were on the verge of giving up. My mother keeps saying "I told you to stop worrying about it & it would happen!" bit since DD1 & DD2 will be it, we're not going to bother looking into it further.

To those who discovered after the first child they had endo or scaring, was this anything to do with operations or scaring from the first birth?
Also did u have any indication of endo like severe periods, sore ovaries etc?

So, the day I started this thread I was unknowingly pregnant. I have got my much wanted bfp and I'm 5w6d now. Hope this one sticks. It has been a hard 12 months. I don't know how we did it, didn't do anything different to other months.
