Default Crossed eyes/lazy eye in newborn - congenital esotropia

My 2.5 week old son's left eye is permanently looking inward. We have a referral to apaediatric ophthalmologist but unsure how long that's going to take. From what I'm reading it seems like congenital esotropia. Does anyone have any experience with this? Everything seems to say it will require surgery some time from six months :/ Would be interested in hearing your experience...

My little sister (who is now 18) has a problem with one eye turning in, especially when she is tired. I don't think its the same syndrome as you named, its called lazy eye muscle apparently?

She has worn glasses for as long as I can remember, she was supposed to be operated on at first but it didn't eventuate for whatever reason. As long as she wears her glasses then her eye doesn't turn in. Sorry I can't offer anything more than that, good luck

My sister had/has the lazy eye, I remember when she would focus her eyes would just go left to right real crazy fast and 1 would be turned in most of the time. She is also very short sighted, wears glasses. she had her lazy eye fixed in 97 when she was old enought to get it fixed at 8yrs of age. they tighted the
Muscle in the eye that was turning in.and was told that it would need to be re done in 10years time as it would get loose, but hasn't. Required to do it as it still look great. Still wears glasses today, but this was a condition that runs with our family also. I am sure the technology today is well improved. Also alot of new borns tend to have minimal eye control at that stage...
