Default Metformin / Pill and trying to lose weight with PCOS

Hi everyone! I have PCOS and am trying to lose some weight after the birth of DS. I lost a good few kilos initially but just can't seem to get rid of the 10kgs I want to lose to get to my previous weight. I have been working out with a PT, playing club netball and eating Lite and Easy, its just not working any more!

I put on weight TTC, I came of the Pill (Dianne) and went on clomid then Pregnyl to get pregnant. I put on about 5 kilos while doing this, and previously my weight hadn't shifted much for years. This, plus the weight I gained when pregnant has left me about 10kgs away from my starting weight (62 kilos). I'm not diabetic (just had a BT come back within the 'normal' range). Before sending me off for the BT, the Dr suggested trying Metformin as some PCOS patients have had success with losing weight on it.

Has anyone else had success with Metformin for weight loss even if they have 'normal' insulin levels? Also, after a two year break i am worried about putting weight on when going on the Pill. Has anyone experienced a weight change (I am starting it tonight..!!)

    Thanks!

I have and I am not overnight. I'm normally 51kg when I took it twice a day leading up too my wedding I got down to 49kg.

I can never take it as regularly as im
    supposed too.

I also found it killed me sugar cravings well.

I've just started back on metformin after a few weeks of not taking it regularly (just struggling to remember, didn't feel like it, etc etc) and am now taking 2 500mg tablets with breakfast and in 3 days I've lost a kg. I think it's partly due to not feeling hungry and also tummy upset but either way the weight is just falling off. I had weight loss when I started on it initially too and have gone from around 60kg to 57.5 despite not really having much excess weight to lose. All the best with it

Thanks for your responses ladies, I am only taking one pill a day but I have been rushing to the toilet and have had a really bad belly for the past few days, thought it was a bug but listening to the responses I assume it is probably Metformin...fingers crossed it works!!
