Any thoughts?? I think he is close but haven't done this before.. He seems to have one leg out and is ready to go and the other is tucked underneath him, can't seem to unfold that one! He is 8 months.

My DD does exactly the same thing. And on Tuesday she started 'lunging' forwards, so can now make her way places. Which I guess counts as crawling?

From memory I think DD did something similar before she started to crawl. She would push herself up on hands & knees/feet & rocked a bit then lunged/shoved off. DD actually went backwards first before she found her forward gear a few weeks later. Lots of frustrated moments lol.

Our DD did that before she started crawling. And she would rock back and forth. She still does it now. But now she can crawl and basically walk too. I don't think it will be too long. Then you will running all over the place!

DS rocked back and forth before crawling. He could only go backwards at first too and would get so frustrated when his legs got stuck under the couch.

With dd1 once she worked out how to get herself up like that it took her a couple of months to work out how to get herself to go forward. She would actually go backwards (found her half way under the couch a few times lol).

DD2 when she got herself up like that it didn't take her too long to work out how to go forwards though she looked like she was humping the ground. Took her a a month-ish to get going from being able to get herself up on her knees and legs.

I would say your son isnt to far off from crawling.
