Default WARNING - *very distressing* - Why are these people allowed to keep having children?

    *Warning - very distressing *

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-07-1...spaper/4121004

I was reading this the other day and am gobsmacked.
This person has since had another child which, again, has been deemed to be at risk.

And yet this mother is allowed to not only have children after she left her firstborn to freeze to death but is allowed to keep them? Why can't we sterilise these people?

In relation to this case - http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/s...-1226352839342

I have a friend who tells me that several times this couple was reported and yet nothing was done. WHY NOT?

    I don't get it.

Because, as sad as awful as it is, I can't imagine living in a country where basic human rights and rights to your own body could be taken away That idea horrifies me.

I don't know what the answer is, however. Awful, awful stuff

Why do people keep choosing to have more when they are inompetent. I've seen so many who have kids in foster or kinship care, don't fight for them, but have more.

I doubt most people do it for the money. I do believe that sometimes, people actually want to be different, they try to change, they tell and promise themseleves that it will be different, but fail, time and time again. Then there's mental impairment, so many different factors come into play.

It's so awful what some innocent children have to go through. Breaks my heart

Its terrible. I heard it reported in the baby in the driveway case that her second child was in state care.Makes me so upset thinking about it. Part of me wishes they could be sterilised.....

    This.

Sorry baby hit send. My niece was deemed to be at risk due to her mothers past history with her other 2 children she was removed from her mothers care at 3 days old before she was discharged from hospital, so they do intervene when they know it's needed.
