    Default Low lying placenta

I found out today that my placenta is low lying right over cervix ATM.
I will go for my 20 wk us in 4 weeks.
I was wondering if you were able to be told at 20 wk us what would happen and if cs is the only option for low lying placenta?

nope it's not the only option. They'll send you for another scan at around 32weeks to see if it's moved up any further (and it usually does).

Mine was within C-section range at 32 weeks but I fought hard and was told by the Ob that he would induce me and see what happened.

I had a really short true labour with a healthy 8 pound baby and no tearing or complications.

    Don't stress yet

Mine was low lying at 20 week morph scan.
My obs, midwives, scan doctors and my gp weren't concerned about it at that point
I had a 34 week scan to check it and had moved up to the top

    Good luck

I was told mine was partially covering my cervix at the 20 week scan. My on kept an eye on it over the weeks and did an scan at each appointment. I had another scan at around 34 weeks and it hadn't moved. It was classified as grade 3 placenta praevia and I had a c section just shy of 39 weeks.

It depends on how low lying? For *most* women, the placenta is likely to move up as the baby grows... For me, placenta Previa was flagged at my 12 wk scan, but I was told the way mine was located they doubted it would move up, sure enough at 20wk scan it hadnt budged and still completely covering my cervix. I hafta do another scan at 30 wks but have already been warned that it looks like c-sec is only option for me (but I have a couple other issues). I think if it's a partial or a marginal Previa, you could potentially deliver vaginally - ur OB should be able to discuss all the risks with you.

I also was told I had a low lying placenta I had a scan at 32 weeks and it has moved over. I am now 34 weeks and have another scan this week just to confirm it all. I too was really stressed about it but it looks like it is going to be okay. Honestly was not worth the stress take it easy and see what happens over time.

    Good luck
