    Default Centrelink CRN question

    Hi,
I need to get Dh's CRN number for a childcare form. Does anyone know if I ring up can I get it or does DH have to do it?
He hasnt had any dealings with centrelink (as in payments) since he was about 20 so I couldnt find any paperwork with it on it.

(just wanted to know before I ring up and spend 30mins on hold to be told no)

    TIA

not sure if they would give it to you over the phone. i don't receive any payments for the children as my dh gets it (due to shared care of his older children) but my number is on his health care card. have you had a look on your centerlink website?

No they wont give it to you, for privacy reasons he has to do it.

They won't give ti to you, but it seems strange that you need his CRN for the form. Normally they ask for the childs and the entitling parent (lower income)

It's not a question of nice... it's a question of breaking the privacy legislation. An individual who shared information they were not authorised too can get into a lot of trouble. For their sake please don't tell anyone who it was that was 'nice'.

when we fill out centrelink forms for clients we just omit the CRN if we don't have it - they can check the rest of the info liek DOB, name etc and cross reference it if need be.

I don't know them personally, and did not force them to give it to me. I am also not out to get anyone into trouble.
Also shouldn't said person know what information they can and cannot give out?

thanks for your help. I spoke to the daycare and they said its ok to leave off if he isnt the primary parent/receiver of the CCB (thats me). So thats what I will do

Yeah I knew they wouldnt give out peoples information willy-nilly but I wasnt sure if because we are married etc. if we were linked in some way and seeing as I didnt want any information on payments/rates etc. I wasnt sure.
