    Default Who is working?

Did you get extra in your pay? I had about $80 extra last fortnight, but couldn't work out why. My payslip goes to my work, but I'm on school holidays, so can't check until next week.

My friend from work told me yesterday it is because of the new tax brackets, and increase of tax free threshold. Anyone know if this is true?

DH got about $50 extra in his pay, we couldn't figure out why, but the tax bracket thing does make sense.

In the lower brackets we should see more $$. Taxfree threshold went up to $18,000.

Yes, I got a bit extra, about $8.00 I think! It would be due to the tax cuts.

Yeh, I knew the tax free threshold increased to 18k. I guess I didn't expect such a big increase, but I do salary sacrifice, so makes my income a lot lower, which could explain such a big increase.

The tax free threshold went from $6000 to $18000 so an extra $12000 so that would explain the big increase hoping that we get a nice buffer in our wage on Friday .

It is most likely because of the new tax brackets. Yes they did increase the tax free threshold but in the higher tax bracket they increased the amount of tax taken out to counteract the increase of the tax free threshold. This is why some people got an extra $80 and others got an extra $8.
