At 8.5 months DD only reaches for DH and I. I wouldn't worry, 5 months is still so little.

I had a friend (A) do a similar thing the other day. Our other friend (b) was holding her and A kept saying, do you want to come to me - oh she doesn't want to, she's not holding out her hands. I told her she only does it for DH and I nit she couldn't quite get it

At around 5 months my dd would reach for me every day or two, but only for me, not to anyone else, certainly not for my friends. She's now 9 months and will reach for me, my dh or my Mum and sometimes my MIL, but no-one else.

Every child is different and does different little things like reaching at a different age/stage. I wouldn't be at all concerned.

My DD started reaching properly about a month ago. She is now 10 months! Before that she would sort of jiggle her hands a little but not reaching out properly with arms fully extended. Even now will only reach for myself and DH sometimes her aunties, definatly not friends!! Don't stress, every baby's different but 5 months is still so little!!
