Cysts on ovaries?? Help please?

Hi - wasn't sure which section to post in sorry - also sorry if there is tmi

When I was pregnant with DD who is 8 months now, I was told at my 12 week scan I has cysts on my right ovaries, but not to worry as they would go away before she was born (and that if I wasn't pregnant I would of never known about them). So I didn't really worry about them - they were never mentioned again, so I assumed they went away.

But recently when I bend over or more certain ways it hurts in my lower stomach on the right side and then when me and dp get "intimate" it was extreemly painful and I was bleeding lightly after wards

So i went to the drs yesterday and apparently they cysts are still there!? So that's what all the discomfort has been from...
Dr took some internal swabs and done a papsmear and has sent me away for further tests as well

Has anyone else had this? Or know what's going on?
I'm stressing out so much

I have had them in the past, I had endo and in my case the cysts were caused by the egg becoming trapped on the surface of the ovary. mine were harmless, I ended up having half an ovary removed but I had been having problems for years at that stage and the endo had caused damage. Don't panic, I know that's hard to do but if your doctors were concerned about them, you would know. Hopefully more tests set your mind at rest soon

I get them from time to time ... years ago - when I was in my early twenties (so pre kids) I had a really large one INSIDE one of my ovaries - so the ovary was stretched .. my gyn was concerned that my ovary would burst, so I was booked in for surgery to drain the cyst and remove it completely.

My symptoms were kinda the same .. I had pain during sex and light bleeding afterwards .. I would suggest you get referred to a gyno to get them looked at - sometimes they just choose to monitor them (they do mostly go away on their own) sometimes they choose to remove them.

My surgery wasn't keyhole - but even back then (decade ago) the gyno said that MOST cysts were removed by keyhole surgery, but due to my cyst (cause it was pretty freaking big) he wanted to operate old-style.

I had cysts on my right ovary on and off for about 2 years, and they caused me the same pain you mention, one was actually at 8.5cm and I had keyhole surgery for that and they also found endometriosis when they went in. Has your doc sent you for an ultrasound? I had many ultrasounds when I had them. Sometimes they like to wait until a few cycles has passed as many resolve themselves, sometimes they end up doing surgery. If you want more children they will try and wait it out. Try not to stress, use a heat pack if that helps, it helped me, and ibuprofen (nurofen). It really puts a dampener on DTD

I was really worried I wouldn't be able to have any babies because of my history with them (a few years of it, and very painful) but I had my last one in December 11 and fell pregnant with my first a few weeks later surprisingly. Just a quick reply because im on my phone and its 1am...

I'm going for some ultrasounds on Tuesday - already had a pap smear, swabs and blood tests done, but waiting for after the ultrasounds to get all the results at once...
I'm trying not to think about it too much at the moment, I don't want to worry my self or others.

I'm thinking something may be triggering it off because iv not had any pain befor? But over the past few days my stomach has continuously been sore in the same lace it hurts when dtd and bend/move etc... Before it used to come and go... Hmm will have to wait and see what Tuesday brings...

Also a gyno is that the same as an obstetrician? Or different?

lots of them are gyno/ obs ... but they do tend to specialise in one area ..

glad that you're going to an ultrasound, it should give you measurements - which then means at a minimum they can closely watch the cysts ..

I agree that there is no point in stressing about it - but that is easier said than done

make sure you have some YOU time to chill out and switch off.

I dont know what can trigger them other than perhaps hormonal changes? have you started a new pill or anything?

Perthmumm are u ttc or going to soon? The pill is supposed to stop ovarian cysts forming. So if you aren't ttc or planning to soon maybe it will help you (once this one is resolved)

Hey everyone, sorry I didn't get back to yous earlier - have been super busy!!!
They couldn't find anything that was cause for concern... There was one tiny cyst only like the size of a pin head. - which apparently would not be causing my discomfort...

Going to see my ob on wednesday - hopefully will get some answers then

No not any time soon - but I already have the marina (iud) I think that's what's it's called
