Default How would react to a txt like this?

Just got this message from my Dad about my Nan who has been sick but we were never told how serious it was, just that she had broken her ribs and would be getting transferred to a different hospital.
Surely this would warrant a phone call!? Especially as I need to travel 4 hours, pregnant, with my 3 year old twins.
I haven't written back because I'm really annoyed and would prefer to call when I calm down.
Am I overreacting? I just think you don't send someone a text when a close family member is dying.

I'd say it was this. I can't imagine I'd want to talk on the phone if my ILs were dying (different story for my parents, though).

I agree he might be to upset or in shock.
People react differently and in unusual ways with Bad news/grief.
He might be in shock to as maybe he thought she would be ok with just a few broken ribs etc, he might not have told you the full story to begin with as he might of not wanted to accept it.

I can see how you would be annoyed though, for something like that I would have preferred a phone call too.
The only advise I can offer is to wait a bit until you calm down, try to remember the blunt message could just be from the way he is taking the bad news and give him a call.

    :Hugs:
not a very nice news to revive.
    I hope your ok.

I think I'm mostly annoyed because I speak to him everyday and all that has been said is she was being transferred to a closer hospital.
He constantly texts me serious news.

I don't want to upset him as I cant imagine losing my Mum (or Dad) so I'm going to wait before I call, but I do hope he phones and not texts if she does pass.

I don't think so, she is his Mum after all.

OP, I would be upset to get a message like that too. You say he does this a lot, so maybe it's just his way. But that doesn't make it right. I'm a big belier that big news, both good and bad, should be shared either by phone or face-to-face. Yes, he might be upset and in shock, but so would you be getting that news I imagine, and if you are on your own, would need someone to talk to as well.

If you make the trip, I hope you get there in time to say your goodbyes.

I think it may have been a bulk message sent out, which is a bit upsetting.
Hormones might be making me overreact though!

I don't think it's the time to be getting offended and focusing on how hard it is for you. Try and focus on being there for each other as a family.
