Default Need help to recommend a good vacuum cleaner.

Ok I am not sure if this is the best place to post my thread.

I am just wondering if any of you have a recommendation for a great vacuum cleaner. Our current one is great but it is bag-based and somehow it gives off a yukky smell whenever it is used. The silly man at Geoffreys told us it won't have any smell with dog fur!!!

I think the smell is caused by vacuuming a house with a large dog. My pooch lives indoors with us.

Bubs #2 is arriving in Oct and I think I have to look for a new vacuum cleaner which will not give us this smell issue.

Anyone has good reviews (in terms of strong suction, ease of use/cleaning/maintaining, no smell issues, low sound pollution...)with his or her vac suitable for a timber floored house, with a large rug in the living room, a large dog and baby?

    Thanks!

I have a shark navigator and I LOVE it!! I used to have to spend 20 mins a day with our old vacuum and the special pet attachment just on the rug.. now I can just run over it and it looks like new! You can also detatch the barrel and carry it around and also has a hard floor head but I find the normal head is fine!! Ive had no problem with suction either.. easy to clean aswell Love love love it!!

Dyson! I love love love my dyson! It's bag less and so easy to empty. You can get one for pet hair too. Definitely worth that little bit extra.

I have a dyson. Absolutely love it. Never loses suction, doesn't smell, bag less and easy to empty and clean. I have the one with the turbo head which gets the carpets really clean. You don't realise how filthy your house is until you buy a Dyson. They are expensive but so worth it IMO.

I also have a dyson, love it too! I cleaned the filter out on the weekend and was amazed at how much it was missing - its that good that even with me being slack and not cleaning the filter it did an amazing job! No odours and easy to push around - I have an upright one.

I got a new one last year. I was so against spending the $$$$ on a dyson but in the end I did. Best vacuum cleaner I've ever owned. Wouldn't go back to any other. Dyson all the way!

Another Dyson fan here! Big outlay but well worth it.

Mine is going strong 5+ years later.

    Dyson! Mine is so awesome!

It came with attachments for carpets, hard floors, curtains and blinds, and pet hair. I never realized how filthy my house was until I got my Dyson.

I've got an upright dyson. The amount of crap they suck up is astounding.

Another Dyson over here - will be worth every cent!!!

You've not vacuumed til you've used a Dyson!!

You can get extra attachment for pet hair but I just use the normal head and it works fine!
