Default Curtin uni Studying by distance

Hi all just wondering if anyone has studied or is studying through Curtin by distance?
I am very seriously considering switching as my heart is not really in primary but early childhood.
Is it good? And how does it work exactly as I study on campus.

I'm about to enroll to study a bachelor of science (health promotion) via distance through them

I can't really answer any of your questions, but I do know that enrollments through them open around the 13th of August.

Thank you electric pink. I have enrolled just waiting for it to start. I'm a bit nervous about distance but they seem to be very helpful when I have rung them.
Maybe we can be study buddies lol.

I'm doing early childhood through them.

So far, I've found one tutor in particular to be an absolute PITA (like really anal) and then others hold your hand so much I just want to slap them silly and about two to be fairly normal lol.

It's fairly easy and straightforward as long as you are computer literate. Lots of people in your tute group end up becoming study buddies or starting a fb group and most tutors tend to encourage you (also for about 5% of your marks) to comment on others throughout the SP (study period).

Not sure what level you're at if you've already been studying primary.

This is my third degree, first online though and I haven't had any dramas. I just make sure I'm *really* organised lol.

    GL!

    Thanks ElleB.
Do we actually publish our work for everyone to see? I am waiting for rpl to come through to see where I am at.
Am getting excited as have been missing the study over the break.

In all of the subjects I've done so far, you have to publish on Blackboard your weekly tasks and comment/contribute to other students. I missed out on a high distinction for not contributing enough!! Consider it like your group discussions in a normal tute class. Personally I prefer when people make constructive comments or challenge my ideas, but a lot of people say stuff like "oh that's great" "I do that too" "I feel the same way". I pretty much do my work, jump on about Tuesday nights (the weeks normally start on Mondays) and comment on the people who have already posted as I figure they are more organised like me haha. Then I go and click MARK AS READ for the billion other comments later in the week, unless I see something has a lot of posts and think it might be interesting/controversial/need to know. The tutor also comments on most peoples work or asks them to "scaffold from this" so you need to keep a look out on it.

Your assignments/assessments are only seen by your tutor. (Unless you're kind of not all there like one person who posted her assignment on the DB (discussion board) lol.) Oops.

Not sure if you've got your texts, but the book depository dot co dot uk tends to have a lot of the txts cheap and it's free postage to Aust! Woohoo.

The generally give quite clear unit outlines but sometimes forget to change due dates etc from the last SP so make sure you double check everything. Other times I kind of think 'how disorganised can teachers be' haha.

How many subjects are you doing?

No, nothing is up on mine, except for my last SP! Soooooo slack! *sigh*

My husbands (through OUA/Swinbourne) have been up since last Wednesday.

Hope you get it all sorted soon. Hopefully tomorrow it will come on. GL!
