    Default ventriculomegaly- prognosis?

Hi Was hoping I could get some infomation on this apparent annomolie and expected prognosis. I just had my 20 week scan the other day and an enlarged left ventricle was detected. My husband and I got a brief run down by a doctor there and then and was told three different ways what it was, not what it means. Subsequently a follow up scan has been arranged with a specialist this week to see exactly what the go is and to do appropriate measurments.

The doctor stressed that at this point in time, everything else appears to be fine. The two concerns I have are:

    1) the next ultrasound booked was within a week of the 20 week ultrasound. Should I be concerned that they are rushing it as they are concerned and want a quick answer?
    2) the doctor would not tell us how much fluid was detected, whether it was slightly more then expected or a lot more.

Any help or infomation would be greatly appreciated to ease our peace of mind

    Thankyou

Hugs hun, not exactly news you want to hear at the anatomy ultrasound

I wouldn't stress about how quickly they get you in for a follow up US, with anything that's found on an ultrasound it's usually acted upon immediately as you need a diagnosis, no matter what abnormal result you get.

Wishing you all the best and hope for a great outcome for bub x

Thankyou still hoping for good results. We are just so frustrated at the lack of infomation!!! All I have gathered is that this is more then likly a fluke accurence but that doesn't ease the guilt if there is something wrong. We went through an oddity picked up with my son as well but thankfully it sorted itself out in a matter of weeks and they were being over cautious. The brain is a whole different ball park though sometimes I think we know too much, if it turns out to be nothing we have stressed for so long over nothing. If we never knew we'd be none the wiser.
