    Yes, the Barista!!
A babycino should not be served hot.
They always put cold milk in ours!

    4. An essential safety point: although some adult cafe customers stress that they require their coffee to be as hot as possible, steaming hot milk should never be placed in front of a young child. While most babycinos are little more than foam or froth, sometimes hot milk is added too. Some baristas will use a dash of cool milk at the bottom, froth the milk only to body temperature, or make it the first one of the order and let it sit to cool before sending it out to minimise any potential danger. From a mum's perspective, it's always worth double checking the temperature before your little one sips. I didn't always think to do it, and once the milk was just off boiling point with only a very thin layer of foam. My daughter scalded her tongue and lips before upsetting the drink all over her lap.
    5. Lastly, a babycino should not contain actual coffee. Yes, it needs to be said. In rare cases, b

    Ok

    A. Babycino's aren't meant to be sipped. They are meant to be scooped with a spoon as it is froth. Therefore, if made correctly, could not be hot at all. (the cup may be hot from being kept on top of the coffee machine)

    B. Both parents are responsible for ensuring the safety of their child. DP and I would take joint blame for letting something like that happen (however, wouldn't even mention it as we would be more concerned about our child, which brings me to my next point...)

    C. Why was a 3 year old made to sit, with snot running down their face from crying, not being comforted or cleaned up after burning their mouth on something?!?! Who cares who is at fault? If my 2 yr old who knows what hot is, touches something I've reapeatedly told her not to, she has learnt by hurting herself and doesn't need me to stand there watching her crying and she still would get cleaned up and cuddled.

I can't believe the parents did nothing.

Why didn't you mention the part about the parents not caring when the child was howling in pain in your original post OP? You added it in only after you were getting responses that you clearly didn't agree with. Seems a bit strange to me to be honest.

Oh my goodness! Are you serious? Anyone who has even done a BASIC course in coffee making, should know it's just froth. (not that they teach HOW to make one. It is just explained that babycino's are JUST froth and nothing else)

I think a little part of me just died after reading this. I cannot believe they put coffee in it!! What were the boss' children? 24?

To not clean the child after the incident does nothing but lay blame on the child for doing something that most 3 yr olds would do..

I don't know how old they were but he put my 2 and 4 year old in the same basket!! The thing is my 2 year old loved it and it was only because the 4 year olds face looked funny that I investigated further. It was a cafe at a Kitchen Warehouse in Perth, great coffee and food but I have always wondered how many he served before me. It was hilarious because of him though "oh, but the bosses kids have it just like that".

I think it's both the parents' fault and also the cafe's fault for making it hot. But the main issue here is if the child was ok.

When my brother was two, he pulled a jug of hot tea down from the table and burnt all down his front and under his neck. Just a split second accident, my mum got to him straight away though. I remember the photos of him with a bandage around his neck and a frown on his little face! He ended up fine, with no scars or anything and is now nearly 24.
