    Default Anxious

I'm new to this forum and have only decided to join because i'm so confused and don't really know where else to turn for advice at the moment.

I'm 7.5 weeks pregnant at the moment. I have had 2 miscarriages recently - one was very early on and happened naturally the other was a missed miscrriage which was picked up at an 8 week scan and ended in a D & C.

I had my 7 week scan on Wednesday and i was quietly confident that everything would be fine. I've been monitoring my HCG levels and they are quite high. My most recent test came back at 111,000.

The scan showed me as being 5 wks 4 days (which isn't really possible) and there was a heartbeat, but it was only 80bpm. The lady doing the scan said to come back in a week (if i didn't miscarry before then - thanks!).

Has anyone else had an experience like this? I'm so confused and of course anxious about it all, this baby is desperately wanted and i really don't want to miscarry again, not sure i could cope.

    Thanks for listening

    Hi Janeydee,

I don't have a similar experience, but couldn't read and not reply. First of all, I'm very sorry for your losses.

I also went for a scan recently where I had been told by my GP I should have been 8 weeks, but from the measurements on the ultrasound, was then told by my OB that I was actually only about 5 weeks. Could it be possible that your body, having gone through the changes associated with your lost pregancies, was out of its normal rhythm?

From what I've read it's normal for a heartbeat to be about 100 bpm from 6 weeks, and it increases (up to 140-160 bpm) as time goes on.

I wish you all the best for you next scan. Please let us know how you go.

I just wanted to update on my situation.

We went back for a 2nd ultrasound last Wednesday and i was measuring 6 wk 4 days, but the heartrate was only 85bpm (up from 80 bpm the week before).

So, it really doesn't look good. The heartrate should be much higher by now...

The sonographer told us to keep our fingers and toes crossed and to wait to see what happens. We have another scan on Wednesday.

Has anyone been in a similar situation - where the low fetal heart rate didn't increase for a period of 2 weeks, even though there had been some growth?

I'm desperate for positive stories, as i really feel like there isn't much hope for me at the moment.

My angel bubba had a heartbeat of 159bpm at 6w2d and died a few days later so a strong heartbeat doesn't always guarantee a healthy bubba. My fingers and toes are crossed for you and i wish you all the best at your scan. Keep positive
