My 6 year old and 3 year old both have their own iPads so they don't need to touch my iPhone or iPad. My 3 year old has special needs (non verbal) so the apps are geared to promote communication and fine motor skills. The special needs community use the iPad extensively as a learning tool.

My sons (4 and 2) are both allowed 20 minutes of iPad a day if they have behaved. Other than that they rarely get the phone unless for example I'm waiting to be seen in A&E or somewhere else rather urgent and boring. And then Mr 4 is only allowed to play Angry Birds and Mr 2 just takes 30 thousands selfies because he loves the 'PHOTO!!' (Also Angry Birds is the only game on my phone because it's my phone not a toy.)
