Default To reduce credit card limit...

I'm wanting to reduce my credit card limit in $500 increments until there is only about $1000 left as my emergency stash.

My question is: I've currently got a $4000 limit which I've reduced from $7500 since I got back from travelling. Back when you could reduce online, as well as increase - now you have to go into a branch to reduce it I could have paid it off but I'm shocking at giving money away to banks, so while I can save that kind of money, it's gone into my new car etc so far.

I've got $563 available on it now so I want to go into a bank and drop the limit to $3500 tomorrow (meaning there will be $63 only on the card - not a prob to me). Will they let me drop it if there's only going to be that much left on the card? I get paid on Thursdays and will chuck another $200 or so next week but there'll only be $63 til then.

Grrr. Was so much easier to do it online!!!

CBA let's you drop it over the phone - may be worth a phone call rather than wasting your time going to a branch.

Oh good. I'm with CBA. I gather you can only do it during business hours? I always forget my phone banking password though!

They say the call centre is 24/7 do maybe give it a go now if you like? Otherwise yes tmrw - saves the hassle of the branch! I avoid them like the plague!
