The requirement is to let the govt know of status (vax'd, not vax'd, partially vax'd, delayed vax'd) so those who don't notify do not get the payment.

I have never agreed with the immunization allowance for anyone ... Personally having the imminisations provided for free is more than enough for me - I don't need any extra incentive to have my children protected.

But the scheme was provided so NO I don't think that people who consciously chooses (and that is their absolute right!) to not immunise teir children should be eligible to receive it. BUT there are some children who are unable to be immunised due to medical reasons, my nephew is one of these children, he is on immune suppresents, had the scheduled Immis leasing up to becoming I'll, and once he became sick he has had tthe ones that don't contain the live virus'. I'm a bit split on where children like this should sit withing eligibility - prob a yes because they have had the ones a dr has determined are appropriate for his condition.

NO - his condition was not caused by Immis and I don't consider a parent choosing to not immi because of their perception of side effects (autism - that study was debunked) as a medical reason.

But that is the point really- it shouldn't be about status of vax. I mean really -if you aren't vaxxing that is your choice but you shouldn't get money for not vaxxing, unless your child has medical issues. It is ridiculous - at the end of the day we shouldn't be giving incentives not to vax.

Well there isn't a payment any more *sigh* you just get your supplement withheld if your status isn't up to date. Now everyone is entitled to their supplement it really has nothing to do with vaxxers whether or not non vaxxers keep their statuses up to date.

Absolutely it doesn't matter to vaxxers if non vaxxers don't keep their statuses up to date, however I for one think it matters that there are even people who are non vaxxers (with no good reason - like medical issues, of course) But that is another thread entirely.

Tbh I think it's a load of crap.
If it was purely for status why not just wait till school age when you have to give your immunization status in anyway

It is BS, I guess that's why they phased it out.

Why doesn't the government give childcare benefits to those parents who don't put their kids in daycare?

Better still How about the taxpayer start giving parents a benefit for wiping their kids butt after taking them to the toilet?

I always understood that payment to be about encouraging lazy parents to complete the vaxxes rather than encouraging them to decide to vax in the first place. If someone is against vaxxing, the amount wouldn't be enough to change their mind imo.
And totally, parents that don't vax shouldn't get it. I don't see why they would? I don't have a school age child so I don't get the school child supplement (or whatever it's called).
You either tick the box or you don't.

Not the school supplement, the FTB supplent. You know the one where they withhold some of the payment then give it at tax time if no money is owing?
