That is so dishonest! I would be subtly dropping the receipt off at table with the credit card amount like a pp said and hope that someone picks up on it.

And yes, I consider that stealing. Intentionally taking others money for personal profit? Definitely.

Yes its stealing. Its stealing from you and the rest of the staff, because that is *your* money - it was given by those people as tips.

    No, not really.

I can't stand dishonesty though. Nothing worse than someone being deceitful, especially to a group of friends.

    Is it stealing? Yes.

Do you have the right to say something? No.

What a way to get a free lunch - by ripping off your friends.

Yes I would class it as stealing.

Is the current place where you work one where you can pick up the bill and money from the table when it is all collected? Maybe be faster than her.

Hand her the bill and ask will you be paying by card again today mam.

I like the one about bringing over the credit card recipt.

Wow that's dodgy!! She's got quite a scam going there. I'd be tempted to call her out on it, like when she comes up to pay maybe say something like "it's always hard splitting the bill isn't it, it never works out evenly! I guess you can throw the extra money on a nice bottle of champagne if you and your friends are going out later" - so she knows you've noticed but you haven't accused her of anything. Or when you take the bill over, say "will you be paying on card again? Just the total then? I'll go sort that out for you" so others are there to hear you.

Or spit in her food. Whatever works

I really don't think it's the staff's place to be making comments. It's not really any of the waitress's business how it gets paid and who is stealing from who. It's a shame she's not getting her tips, but it's not her job to try and humiliate the customers. As long as the bill is paid then there's not much the restaurant can do. I worked in hospitality for a long time, I sadly saw stuff like this happen a lot.

    Yep...stealing from friends and waiters/ress.

However I reckon if you said anything she wouldnt care....she has been ripping off her friends for years it seems like so why would she care if wait staff from a restaurant said anything?

I have to agree that you can't say anything as tempting as it is. She could make a complaint to management and it may jeopardise your job if management think you've antagonised a customer.

Hopefully one day a friend will go up with her to the register and see what's going on. These things tend to come out eventually.
