Default I'm excited about giving birth

IM SCARED OUT OF MY MIND of having to give birth and I'm not even pregnant yet but hopefully soon.
How do you overcome the fear?

Read up about positive birth stories... Watch home birth videos (they're usually very positive) and don't listen to people with negative things to say. Personally I had a very traumatic birth experience but have since learnt that your state of mind regarding birth can GREATLY affect your birth and experience! Do hypno birth courses and read all about the natural physiology of birth...

Good luck, and remember... Your mind is a very powerful tool!

No you're not a freak. I was excited too and i think that mindset made labour easier.

This is my first (I'm 35 weeks) and I'm both scared and excited. Mostly excited, but yes.. a little scared.
I think for me what's helped has just been reading, learning etc. For me it's the unknown that's the scary thing. And it's not just positive stories that have helped... knowing what the possibilities are is useful for me.
Mostly it's just forums etc that I've been reading, but also Juju Sundin's Birth Skills is worth a good read.
    Good luck

I was excited for my first, a bit apprehensive about the 2nd and I am dreading this third. OMG....the pain! Not sure who said you forget but I haven't! Actually, I know I must have blocked some of it...so its even worse then I remember! Sorry...that was not very helpful! I am excited to hold my baby. Nothing beats that first moment..
