    Default Frozen cycle vs fresh?

    Hi Ladies,

I have just done my first IVF cycle. I had my blood test yesterday and it's negative I had 3 embryos that made it to day 5 so I have 2 frozen. I was just wondering if anyone could share their experience with me about what happens in a frozen cycle compared to a fresh cycle. I wonder if frozen cycles might give a better success rate given that your body hasn't been though the injections and egg retrieval? Any info would be much appreciated!

    Hi there,

I just finished a natural FET cycle which was unfortunately a BFN.

Basically it's exactly like a normal cycle. I did opk's to pinpoint when I would ovulate plus scans. After a pos opk the fs waited 3 days after ovulation (my embryo was 3 days) and then did the ET. It's pretty much like a pap smear, but fs inserted a small catheter with embryo in through the cervix.

If you have Pcos or other ovulatory issues your fs may put you on a medicated cycle instead.

Hope that helps and good luck

    Xo

I have had success and unsuccessful with both.

My first transfer was a fresh transfer = bfn
waited 3mths to give my body a break and frozen transfer = bfp
then waited 2yrs and did a natural cycle but the 2 remaining embryo's didn't survive the thaw so we did another full cycle 3mths later.
    fresh transfer = bfp
we have 1 embryo left which we will be transferring in September so not sure which way it will go, if unsuccessful we will do another cycle after the new year.

I prefer the FET as I don't think it's as stressful on my body as fresh transfer after stim cycle. I develop mild OHSS and it's uncomfortable and a bit painful at times. I choose to freeze all my embryos after cycles so my body can recover before transfer.
Yes we loose money by doing another transfer and not using the transfer that is part of the stim cycle but I would rather be in good health and no pain.
In past four transfers I have had all BFP ( unfortunately all ended with a m/c) but 3 were FET and 1 was a fresh.
    Good luck!
