    Default Let's go sugar-free

I've just finished reading the Sweet Poison Quit Plan by David Gillespie and I'm going to try to go sugar free.

Step 1 will be to go through the cupboard and set aside (but not dump yet) anything with sugar in it (or at least more than 3% sugar)

Does anyone want to join me? How about it I make it a 30-day challenge? Does that make it more fun??

    happygrl's 30 day sugar-free challenge starts Monday

Tomorrow is day 1. I've just finished my Magnum ice cream and I might have some chocolate.

    I already miss sugar

Are all of you going sugar free? i find trying to start any kind of clean eating here gets unconsciously sabotaged by my dp.

We are all doing it - I do 99% of the grocery shopping and cooking which makes it easier to manage.

I've boxed up everything with sugar and put it into storage boxes in the garage. Not having it inside the house should make it better too

Wow happygirl, good luck. I think I should do this but it is so hard - I don't know how to give up chocolate. I have seen him on one of the morning shows ages ago and did give sugar the flick for a while....but I just love making desserts.

I haven't read the book but after reading the website and forum I tried some of the suggested recipes and I also bought some of the dextrose powder for baking. Maybe I should try and twist DH's arm....

Desserts are my weakness too - I actually enjoy cooking them more than eating them (marginally)

    This kind of dessert
is what I am going to miss. once the withdrawal period is over and I'm allowed to use the dextrose I'm going to start experimenting. A sugar free salted caramel is what I'm after.

11:20am and so far so good . I used Stevia in my coffee which was OK

I am sugar free, and I just wanted to pop my head in and say: You can do it!!!

Don't think too far ahead, once you are through the 'withdrawal' phase, you will probably find that your desire for sugar just goes away...

I feel so much better without sugar that it has really lost it's appeal.

    Good luck!

Have you been sugar free for long? How long did the withdrawal period last for you?
