I am thinking getting capsules for my twins is a good idea. Easy to transport in and out of the car when they are young etc.
Anyone used/not used a capsule and have any advice?
I'd love to know this too blackduck - since I have no idea about any of this!!!
i know i found a capsule great with my son (1st pregnancy). the pro's of using them for twins would be (i think) - babies likely to fit in them for ages if born premmie/small, if you got a compatible pram you could just take them out of the car and put straight into the pram without waking, you know when you get them out of the car you can put them down and they would be safe, leaving you with hands free for the other baby.
cons i think would be - heavy to carry 2 capsules and wouldnt have hands free to do anything, bulky if you were to take them in anywhere like appts, cafes etc both in their capsules, might take up valuable space in your car as the bases are very wide and they come out quite far when in the car in position, expensive when you will still need to buy a convertible carseat for 0-4 yrs.
im debating this too, but to complicate things i have a 2 yr old and a 3rd seat in the car to consider!
hiring might be a good option - thats what i am thinking of doing for 6 months
hope that helps someone - it helped me to put it in writing!
Thanks for that dancingtren. Good to hear your pros and cobs. The major con for me will be the weight of carrying 2 capsules, but I'm thinking ill be putting them straight onto the pram anyway. And if I'm going to a cafe and I don't want to take the pram in I think in those situation I will have someone with me either DH, mum or sister. The space that the bases take up aren't a worry for me either as I have a territory and the are my first bubs so I don't need to squeeze anyone else on the backside.
I think I just convinced myself I do want capsules!!!
We didn't get capsules as it isn't recommended to keep the babies in them for longer than 2 hour stints, they also get too heavy to carry as bubs get bigger.
If your concerned about getting them in and out of places on your own you can use a baby carrier for 1 leaving your arms free for the other. I had a baby Bjorn that I used for the sole purpose of getting both twins inside the supermarket to the twin trolley!
We used capsules and it was great to just click them into the pram base and go shopping or when they were sleeping it was good that they weren't disturbed.
We had peg perego ones and that lasted until just after the girls turned 1. I couldn't possibly carry two capsules at once though but they could have just been my non existent muscles and tummy separation![]()
The Baby Girls have arrived
I'd use them (sorry no twins here) for twins, as a previous poster said I wouldn't use them on a pram due to it not being recommended that they spend more than 2hrs in them at a time but just for the pure purpose of being able to get them in/out the car easier at home, I would bring the capsules in each time![]()
