Default History of Back Pain Affect Labour?

    Hi all
I have an old lower back injury which flares up every 6 months or so, usually fine after a few days with Voltaren gel and analgesics.

I'm now nearly 14 weeks pregnant with our first child, and am already experiencing some heightened back pain.

We have only had one appointment with our midwife about 6 weeks ago and I forgot to mention back pain - she has recommended natural childbirth, and I was just wondering whether this might affect my labour or if the back pain could be a lot worse?

I appreciate that all women's experiences are different, just thought someone might have similar medical history.

    Thanks

I have an injury at L 4/5, I noticed it was worst in early pregnancy. (both pregnancy's )

In labor, I had an epidural at 10cm dialated. But I didn't notice the back pain much , i wanted it for "normal" labor related reasons (I dialated from 2-10cm in an hour and apparently that's really fast). Having said that - I think there are a few factors that could influence this. Such as posterior labor (bub facing up to your belly instead of bum) but I'm sure you will be awesome.

I was told by a specialist that my back would be a problem during pregnancy and labor, but mostly they were wrong. I recomend being open minded about labor. You cant control it, i think doing some research into the pain relief available and listing what you would like to try first, then up to last resort pain relief is a good plan

All the best with your pregnancy, such an exciting time for you!
