WWYD - another crying in the car seat question!!

Just wanted to update everyone on our SUCCESS!!

She's hardly ever upset in the car these days. YIPPEE! She will even sleep in her car seat.

I think age had something to do with it, just being that little bit older. She also had to have more practice as I have gone back to work and she needs to come down to my work with DP for feeds.

We did try a DVD player (Justine Clarke DVDs FTW!) and that helped HEAPS! As much as I hate her watching tv, she is engrossed in it and it really helps.

Also, we went to Kidsafe and checked the car seat. It had been installed by them at the beginning. It turns out the shoulder height for our car seat straps had been incorrect and we hadn't been buckling her correctly! Now, we had a run-down when we installed the seat, read the manual from cover to cover and spoke to Safe N Sound and Kidsafe over the phone and we still weren't doing it properly! So I encourage everyone now to go and have a check at Kidsafe. It only costs $10! The installer said 70% of seats are either incorrectly installed or the baby isn't buckled in properly and my particular brand of seat (Meridian T and A) has quite a few little quirks where a safe seat installed correctly can go wrong.

Thanks so much for the help! It's been great, so much better and less stressful. Mama can leave the house and she feels fantastic for it!

Oh, and the lady at Kidsafe gave me a study at QUT road safety unit and it showed driving with a screaming baby was as unsafe as driving while talking on your mobile phone!!! Food for thought.
