DD is 26mths and moving into a single bed on the weekend. We haven't seen the need to move her before this as she has never tried to climb out. She has also been a pretty poor sleeper so we didn't want to move her in case it complicated things further (e.g. getting up during the night more). The other reason is that we have no money at the moment so we needed to save up to buy all the bedding, etc.

We moved my ds (26mo) into a single bed with bed rail a couple of weeks ago.

We had a rough couple of nights but now he's settled in fine and is sleeping better than what he was in the cot with the side off.

I am due with bub no 2 in August and wanted to get him into his new bedroom and bed well before I am due so he didn't associate being kicked out of the nursery with the new baby!

Put dd1 in a bed about 2. It was when I felt comfortable enough that she can get in and out of the bed without needing help. We never bothered with the toddler bed shes just in a normal single bed and I attached a side rail (though I am thinking about taking it off now, dont think she needs it anymore).

The transition was fine. I took her to choose a quilt cover set that she really liked and I made it out to be very special for her. So she settled into a big bed easily.

Just before ds1 turned 2. He was excited about his car bed so we had no issues at all.

We're still trying to decide whether or not to move DD into a bed before bubs arrives (she's almost 2). There are pros and cons for both sides so I'm making this a much harder decision than it really needs to be .

DS is 22 months and showing signs if being ready for a big bed now so I'll get him a new bed soon. But a bit worried he'll get out an come downstairs all the time - not quite sure he's ready to stay in it. Plus he also still sleeps in all directions!
