Default Hubby doesn't care about car seat safety

    I need help.

My husband told me at the start of the week he drove our 21 month old son in the front seat of his car on the way to day care. I lost the plot, told him how reckless he had been, you get the picture.

He said he is a great driver, day care is maybe a kilometre away - there are 6 corners though. I explained its not about his driving, safety rules are there for a reason.... And anyway tonight he admitted to doing it again AFTER our last discussion.

I have told him he can't drive our son to or from day care anymore but he just laughed at me because I need his help. When I told him I would ask you ladies your thoughts, for stats, experiences he said ask the men they'll understand, I'm a bit heart broken he doesn't seem to understand how precious our son is.

He is telling me I'm ridiculously for asking but I needless to show him he is being stupid and putting our sons life at risk.

I read it out to my husband.. very much a strong MAN, father for five and he said:

"In 7 years of parenting I have never ever ever once driven the boys without them being correctly secured in their car seats. I have a responsibility to their safety.. it's not my driving I'm worried about, it's the other idiots on the road."

We only live 2km from day care.

After reading this I thought OMG how reckless!! So I asked my DH his thoughts on the matter. He said this - "does the car have airbags? I think it's ok if the car has no airbags or if they have been disconnected".

Is there something just completely wrong with the way men think? They obviously know better than the statistics on road crashes involving small children!

maybe it's a age thing? I personally think young men are quite irresponsible these days... my DH is 40, so I don't know if it's an age thing. I think if young men want to risk their lives, woop de doo... but they should never inflict their recklessness on their children.

My DH would NEVER drive the kids without the car seat. Apart from the safety aspect, it's illegal not to have them properly secured! Like a PP said, it's not about how safe you drive, you have no control over other traffic on the road. Why take the chance????

Wow. My DH wrote off his motorbike 500m from our house - there was a driver not paying attention. The fact that he was wearing protective gear saved his life, or at least very severe injuries. He thinks your DH is a *bad word* for risking your child's life to prove a pathetic, nonsensical point!

    OMG is he brain dead!!!

Ask the big tool how he'd feel if he had an accident and his son died as a result.

I'm sorry if that was my partner I'd want to do him physical harm!!!!
