    Default Empty sac at 5+4

    Hi girls

Had my dating uktrasound today. Gestational sac measured 5+4
But no yolk sac or fetal pole was seen. It just looked empty.

Anyone had this and gone onto havr a successful pregnancy ? I'm going to have a follow up scan in 8 days.

I'm praying it's just too early but the sonographer said they usually see a yolk sac at 5+4 so naturally I am devastated.

I'm really sorry to hear that,
a similar thing happened to me last year, i was basically frozen at 5w5d and all they could see was a fetal pole, my body eventually passed the sack at around 7/8 weeks...
Sorry i couldn't give you any positivity, i know its devastating.

hCG level at 6 weeks exactly came back at 32,000. I'm hoping this is good news. GP says it rules out ectopic.

Scan is 6 days away. Nervous

    Default encouragement hopefully

Hi blue lips I hope your doing o.k. I dont want to give you false hope but wanted to share my story. I'm 12 weeks today with my third, and believe I'm starting to feel flutters! I went and had a an early dating scan at 5 weeks 5 days, as I'd miscarried twice in the last year they also wanted to check viability. I had only a gestational sac, with no yolk sac or fetal pole present. The ulstrasound report as clinical as they can be did not provide much encouragement. Anyhow I went off to my 9 week ultrasound, and the most beautiful little sight, baby present with a heartrate at 178 bpm and length of 2.5 cm!! like I said, I know that you like many who have lost babies try to prepare, but I REALLY hope for you that your story is the same as mine. Please let us know the outcome!
