I've tried all the alternatives including powder and home made stuff but have found they are not as effective. The quantum tablets are more expensive and probably not very Eco friendly but when I use them I don't have to rinse all my dishes first and can put the dishwasher on a quick or normal wash (45 degrees) which saves heaps of energy and water. I also try to only put the dishwasher on at night to save money on our power bills

I buy a brand called Ecover from my organic shop as I put DS bottles in the dishwasher so didn't want nasty chemicals!

I use the Fairy brand tablets, and have found them really good.

I use finish powerball tabs. More eco-friendly than having to re-wash everything! I have the dishwasher for convenience so I want something easy that works every time. We buy in bulk to save $$.

Yep, I just drop the tablet onto the door and it lands down the bottom. Same with powder, just sprinke it on the door and close it up. Exactly the same result as when it springs open anyway!
I tried the coles green ones and the eco-house ones, neither cleaned as well as finish.

Poor DH - some of them have disolving wrappers and some don't. He couldn't figure out why the dishes weren't cleaning!

I can't use the powder as my compartment is broken so I use tablets in the cutlery holder.. Works a treat
The best ones iv tried are from
Aldi. I think the brand is called logix.
    And much cheaper too

Finish Quantum here too Gets everything, including my dishwasher, super clean. I've never had bad dishwasher smells. Its probably not great for the environment, but I put it on eco wash which helps save electricity and water. I find them on special sometimes at Woolies for half off and buy a lot of them then (still have over a packet left and the last time the 40 packs were on special was ages ago ).

I get powerball from grocery run. Buy them in bulk and save heaps. I also use the shorter cycle with these and they do a great job. Rinse aid?? Am I supposed to use a rinse aid?? .....oops!

I tried putting bottles in the dishwasher and they don't seem to clean. I have to scrub them first so I only put them in if I need to sterilise them
