    Default Forced vbac???

Hi all I had DS in Feb 2011. I was induced 10 days over my due date no sign of labour at all. It was an emergency c section after I only dilated to 4cm after 24hrs and bubs head started to swell. DS also weighed 10lb 6oz and they were aware he was big but let me go over my due date.

I am now 26 weeks pregnant and had an appointment with the Dr at hospital and he said that he doesnt approve me having another c section because I want one. He has booked me to see another doctor for their opinion and if they agree I will have c section. What happens if they don't approve? Will I be forced to have a vbac? Not even 2 years apart. I know its early but bubs is already measuring 3 weeks ahead of dates so I am terrified of not being able to push this bub out. Anyone have to deal with this problem?

I have no experience at all to offer, as I've only had the 1 bub vaginally so far.

However, no one can force you do anything you aren't comfortable with to your body. There are plenty of doctors who will gladly give you another c-section. We thankfully live in a society of free choice, so find another doctor who isn't so narrow minded. He doesn't sound like the type of doctor I would want managing my pregnancy anyway

If going private then it's even easier to choose your own doctor. Good luck.

Thanks for your response. I am going public so it feels like I have no choice just have to do what they want. I thought if you have one c section you always have the choice to have another?

If you really want another cesarean, there is no way you won't get it. I have never heard of anyone not being allowed a repeat cesarean over a VBAC.

Personally I would have loved that doc when I was planning for my VBAC...

FWIW I had my VBAC 16 months after me emergency cesarean, and I have a sisgter who attempted her VBAC 14 months after her cesarean. Neither of us had any dramas. From what I have heard you are healed as you are going to be after a few months so waiting longer to get pregnant is not necessary.

I was in the same situation when pregnant with DD2. I'd only seen a midwife and they wanted me to try a VBAC. I just asked to see the OB and explained my reasons to him (the public system gave me an emergency casesar the first time after a very traumatic all day labour on the drip and I knew that I could not face the same thing happening again). He didn't have an issue with it at all.
The only issue i had was the date. In the public system they like to do the caesar very close to the due date. I was a bit worried about going into labour early (was only 2 days over with my first) but they assured me they would still do a caesar if I arrived early enough in labour. In the end I went in a week earlier due to GD.

    Best of luck.

Normally it's the other way around! You seemed to have lucked out with who you got!I know at the hostpital I'm going to Im very likely to get the delete csection I want, my gp said if I happen to get any stress from anyone to tell them they can't make me have a vbac when it has higher risks (I do know that a csection has its risks but this just works to help me get what I want, my Gf is going with you can't make me have a csection because of the risks)I would just stick to your guns, don't stress, just tell them firmly you will be having a csection.
