So call me naive, but when I saw a little poster advertising for free portrait photography for children, by a local girl just setting up in business as a photographer, I thought it sounded like fun.
She is lovely. Charming and pretty and has a really nice way with my stroppy 3 year old. She came over and spent a whole morning taking photos of the girls and I and we had lunch. Then she came over a week later and dropped over the digital files for some really beautiful pictures.
It was only when she was about to leave that she handed over a little card and the penny dropped that she was a cult recruiter. There has been one, friendly, follow up call. She's not at all bothersome, and is going to get nowhere, but I have one question.
Is it immoral of me to string her along and have her take photos of my daughter's birthday party, as we have discussed, knowing that she is (probably) only after recruiting my mummy friends with her free pictures scam. If I forewarn everybody? OK, so she's a wily culty little miss, but she does take a lovely free photo?
The only downside I can see is that it might make some of my friends uncomfortable. Or that somebody might call her on her cultyness. Or that the scientology aliens will steal my children's souls through the medium of culty pictures...?
