    The car I'm looking at on friday is a 2002 mitsubishi magna advance, the 2003 model was awarded the 5 stars according to google. Can't really afford anything newer.
    Thanks for all the info, not so worried about the fwd now.

    Ex-DW has a 2002 Magna! Nice car, drives really well, very comfortable. Has the turning circle of a bus but that's really the only negative I can think of.

    I owned a 1999 Magna, and you won't find much better for the money. The are comfortable, reliable and cheap to maintain.

    Keep in mind, though, that safety standards are not static. Five stars in 2003 does not correlate to five stars by today's standards.
