Is it nice in Cairns? Relaxing? Much to see/do? Good places to eat? We're not overlly fussy with entertainment wise, mainly for relaxing. we do enjoy day trips/drives tho... any info would be awesome. thanks.

My brother lives in cairns so we usually visit every 6 months. I love love love it there! We avoid going around February as the heat and humidity is just crazy, we just went last month and the weather was great, very mild around 27 each day with lovely cool evenings. If you have young kids it is heaven there is so much free stuff to do with them. The esplanade is the main part of town and has a gorgeous pool with bbqs and grass area, all the backpackers hang our there. Then there is Muddys which is the big children's playground and water play area. It's so clean and lovely! For adults there is lots of different pubs clubs and the casino. You can do day trips out to the reef or different islands, usually the boat price includes lunch and different activities on the island like snorkeling or glass bottom boat. You can drive up to the Daintree & cape tribulation. And kuranda has the awesome sky rail and scenic train. There is really so much to do up there, although alot of the trips are on the expensive side but worth it!

I love it. You can do a day trip to Port Douglas, Mossman Gorge and the Kurunda Sky Rail is apparently amazing.

We went to Port Douglas 2 months ago and loved it. Was a great time of year to go, too.

We lived in cairns for 4 wonderful years. There's lots of places to drive and see. Port Douglas and further up provide diving, amazing rain forests with tree top boardwalks and a flying fox experience. On your way up to port, stop at Thala lodge and stand on the deck for an amazing view.
If you want to go inland, from cairns head to the tablelands. There's loads of beautiful drives. Tinaroo lake is beautiful for a fish or water fun. Cairns itself is great. There is the pool right on the esplanade. Great pubs, the night market, take a walk along the board walk and check out some of the amazing and expensive boats that come in from around the world, take a boat to fit Roy island, the list goes on...and on. I really miss it up there. You'll love it. Their winter is like our summer. Their summer is hot, humid and wet! Best te to head up there is from June to august.

We went to Cairns for Easter. Love it. The whole area is beautiful. So many amazing sights, both natural and man made. We were really impressed with the zoo there as well!! Its a beautiful part of the world, brilliant for holidays. Can't wait to go back.
