I use 123 on my son he's 5.5yrs old. If he blatantly ignores me or is being naughty or whatever it is he's doing wrong ill start counting slowly for him to do what he was asked or for whatever it is. If I get to 3 which rarely happens I threaten the naughty corner. Normally I only get to 2 and he's doing what was asked. Hope that answers what you are looking for.

basically behaviour goes into 3 categories: mild but annoying(which is ignored), 'stop' behaviour, (which is emotion coached - 'i see that you are cross, but we dont throw things at people') and 'big rocks' which are counted then punished (ie hitting/biting)
we personally only ever emotion coach, but i will send dd out of the room for spitting (her latest trick) and ask her to return when shes ready.
