In the new meridian (we got it in june as we had another car hit us) my ds is pretty average for height, and at 14 mnths, he was just over the line to turn the seat to forward facing. Before that we had a12kg rf hipod milan. Much better
Oh are they? Are all ones in the stores on height? They seem to advertise on weight. It's going to be SO much easier on height!

I've never heard of these, but they look amazing! I want a black one so that DF would wear it too! They seem cheaper on Ebay than anywhere else.

Do many mum's take the full 52 weeks of unpaid parental leave? I really want to but I'm worried about how my boss will react. To him, our lives should revolve around the workplace. He doesn't come across as a family first man. What will you guys be doing? This worries me than anything else about having a baby.

I will be taking the full year so my plan is to work up until 3 weeks before.. Maybe 2 weeks and then take a year from there. I've worked out ill get the 18 weeks paid from the govt I get 28 weeks at half pay from work and I have annual leave that I can take at half pay as well! So I will be paid n some form for almost all of the time

i will then return to work 2 days a week I think... What about everyone else?

When I was pregnant with DS the one thing I couldn't wait to get was a cot, I wanted one in a dark wood with straight lines. I made sure it was to the Aust saftey standards, had an adjustable base height, converted to a toddler bed and I could raise and lower the side really easily.
We also got a bassinett for when hw was tiny.
Well he slept in the bassinette kinda okay, as long as it was right up agaisnt the side of the bed and he was sound asleep whn you put him in it. (never ever in the day though). He also had to be wrapped up nice and snug. I struggled with muslin wraps for nearly 4 months before I discovered ergo cocoons. I was so annoyed I had never heard to them! I highly rate a zippered or velcro wrap so much easier. Then he started rolling and had to move to the cot. I think he slept in there maybe 4 nights, after hours of struggling to lay him down and him not to wake after a few seconds. Then he just slept in the bed with me. I could lay down with him in my arms and he wouldn't stir. So we become co sleepers. DH sleeps in our king bed in our room, and we sleep in a double in DS's room. It is awesome in some ways but really crappy in others. If I want to sneak into Dh's bed I have to wrap DS up in a safe t sleep so he dosn't roll out of bed if he wakes and I'm not there. I havn't slept with Dh in 13 1/2 months. But I know exactly how hot or cold DS is I can get up and feed him before he even properly wakes and he is in easy reach if we need to get out of the house fast. Another thing I like is when he wriggles in the night it kinda feels like he is still inside my belly.

I also rate the ergo, it has been so handy. I used a baby borjn when DS was little which I also really loved.

Trio how has this (cosleeping) impacted on your relationship with your dh?? If you don't mind me asking

Disney, just beware of ebay, theres apparently alot of fake ERgos around... Try babesinarms.com.au, they are the official stockists. Theres heaps of fake sites trying to sell them cheaper, but they're not as good quality and have been known to fail.

Nomie, Im a SAHM, DF works....I left work before i got pregnant, and my boss cried and begged me to stay...we came to an agreement and i stayed an extra month to help find someone. Everytime i went back to visit (childcare) she kept asking if i was comming back - even at 36wks pregnant! Lol.

Trio, i agree with you on the co-sleeping! I was so strict with DS, he slept in his basinette, then his cot every night all night, but around 5-6mnths, we both were sick with a cold, it was too cold to get out of bed and re-settle him and put him back in, so i made the mistake of putting him in with us...He was feeding 3 times a night on average as well... Now at 18mnths, he sleeps 2-3hrs in his cot during the day fine, and anywhere between 3 and 6hrs in his cot at night (occasionally a bit longer) Then i bring him in with us as he just wont re-settle. He was in the basinette, and cot in our room, right next to my side of the bed but with all sides on until he was 15mnths old when he went into his own room.

Hope that worked. The first one is him being put into the seat by DF, the 2nd one is a close up of the marker that says to turn from RF to FF...These were taken on the 4th Sept...He was checked a week later and was 50%ile for height
I honestly didnt realise until then, that he could've been RF in it until then, but we only got it in June and with his jumper on he is above the line...
