$5000 seems pretty accurate for the big stuff - I guess some things will vary & you may get some as gifts.
Ive been thinking so much today & wondering whether financially its ever the "right" time?? We are still renting & I worry that if we have a baby we will never afford a house? But I worry if we got a house if I could afford a mortgage whilst on Mat leave? I'm such a worrier by nature & this stuff bothers me!
Ive worked it out to be about $4000 out of pocket which for Sydney is good. So that covers everything, all ultrasounds, epidural, obstetrician, phi excess etc. Each state is different in regards to how much the doctors charge. I just know Sydney is expensive. I have a specific idea as to how I want this baby being born/ becoming a mum thing to go which is why Im going private. (and our local public hospital is not awesome)

$4000 isn't too bad at all... I guess it's a lot in comparison to public though.
I have 2 friends pregnant at the moment & it seems one will be private & 1 will be public so I might just find out all I can about their experiences & costs.
Im trying to not get so caught up in what I want for the future that I don't enjoy the present.
What are your goals/ideals on how you want to become a mum?

    Hi Ladies...
Just wanted to pop in here... While you are adding costs of 'after the baby is here' I just wanted to let you know that so far we have spent about $16k and we are yet to be pregnant I never considered that we could have a problem... And we do, almost 2 years TTC and I'm hoping we are close BUT that said, we still need to pay for more specialist appointments & I'm hoping no more ivf (which is our main costs) don't want to be negative on here.. Just wanted to 'throw' something in that most people don't consider & fingers crossed you'll never need to

Wow lots to catch up on from the last few days...

Hailzy- I'm from Adelaide and no kids yet, we're planning for number 1

MrsLA- seriously don't feel bad for feeling a bit jealous, I do too! You can't help the way you feel! The jealousy is just a personal feeling cos you're waiting for something you want so badly, it's not a bad feeling toward anybody. I had cuddles with my friend's baby today and I was jealous for myself, but so happy for her.

Disney- I had the same thoughts re sleeping bags and camping haha! Had never heard of them! I'm not sure what I want in a pram, car seat, or anything. I feel like I would get too obsessed if I started looking. Only thing I've decided is white furniture cos the rest of our house furniture is white.

I had a potential TTC develoment over the weekend... DP was a bit smitten with my friend's baby today too and said maybe we should start TTC in March when we get back from Europe. Not getting my hopes up since he changes his mind a bit, but exciting

    Bring on 2013!

    Thanks Tashee
I'm hoping to be pregnant by Nov 30, as this is when I would have been due before I had a m/c... It's been tough but I'm stronger for it!
    Girl power!!!!

Hi Marttc. Sorry to hear about your difficulties. I personally have always been worried that I will have trouble Conceiving and carrying a baby.

Fingers crossed for you and wishing you luck in your journey. Would live to hear when you get your BFP.

Hailzy - I've kinda outlined it in an earlier post but the general jist of my way to become a mum/ give birth is in a fancy private hospital with my DH, not in any pain because pain and I are NOT friends, with a healthy baby that's brought into this world by whatever means necessary, surrounded by flowers and cupcakes ( but I've since been informed both flowers and cupcakes aren't a good idea...but I still want them!) It's not for everyone but that's my view of how I would like things to go.

Tashee- I'm an all white furniture girl too. My house was really not designed with children in mind and my friends often come over and laugh about how everything will be destroyed once children come along...kinda mean I think... Yay on the exciting news of TTC in march next year!! That's like 28 weeks away!!!! That'll go so fast, especially when you've got a big trip in there as well!!

Marttc- that's sad to hear things haven't gone to plan, I suppose its a little bit of a reality check. You spend your entire adult life trying NOT to get pregnant and then it's heartbreaking when you make the decision to create new life and you can't quite get there. Good luck with your nov 30 aim I hope it turns out just as you hope!

I had my very first bad baby related dream! I woke up in a big sweaty distressed mess, it was horrible!

So my dream... I was pregnant (yay) and I was a few days off my due date and for some reason I was having a tour of the maternity ward. I looked behind this curtain and there was a midwife and she got me all excited about having my baby and meeting my baby.

This is when it turned bad.

She said why don't you meet your baby now and I said but I'm not in labour and she said no there is this new c section we can do right here and you can meet your baby.

For some reason I thought this was a great idea so she did something that I can't quite remember but bam I had this baby in my arms and it was so cute! Then the midwife said ok so we need to tie the cord off and cut it and so she pulled a thread of her hair off her head and tied the cord but sliced right through it. Then the baby started bleeding out and she looked in shock, grabbed the baby and ran off with it. The next thing the baby is attached to a bag of blood undergoing a blood transfusion and the doctor came over and said yeah it doesn't look good. Go home and try and make a new one cuz this one is broken. Then I woke up!

Oh it was horrible! Has anyone else had bad baby related dreams? This was my very first and it was so horrible!!!

    Hi Ladies,
I've not been around for a few days! We have been really busy finalising all the details about getting our house on the market. We finally have everything sorted! for a quick sale, then we can start TTC sooner!

Disney, your idea of childbirth sounds amazing! Wouldn't it be fantastic if it was like that!!! You make it sound totally painless and possibly even enjoyable haha (I love cupcakes)
I hate those horrible baby dreams. Even when they are nice baby dreams and everything is perfect I still wake up feeling terrible because it is not real.
How crazy can dreams be? I mean tying off the cord with a piece of her hair???

I have had some horrible and some quite ok baby dreams, I just cant remember any of them right now, (I generally only remember my dreams for a little while after I wake up)

How has everyone been this week?
