Default Car seat arrangements with 3 seats?

I don't have my licence yet bit I can go for it shortly after this bub is born. Ill have 3 car seats in the back and was just wondering if the rearward facing seat has to be in the middle? It would be easiest with my eldest in the middle as he climbs in his own seat and of would be hard reaching in the middle to put bub in. Of course ill mange if that's the way you have to do it,but can rearward facing go on the outside or not?

Certainly can as long as it fits behind one of the seats. A lot of cars you need the seat right forward. Although having said that I have ds3 rear facing in the middle because it means ds1 & 2 can't physically fight, they can only verbally fight haah

We are pitting the reverse seat on the left had side, DS will be in the middle in her convertible facing forward and DD will be on right in booster. It can totally be done, you have to be able to fit your hand between the baby seat (in reverse) and the seat in front for a safe fit :-)

Aslong as the car seat fits behind the seat on the side you intend to put it on!!
We wanted ours on the side for bub but it wouldn't fit behind the seat unless it was folded all the way forward!! So it had to go in the middle!!

I was pondering this yesterday and it led to asking about seat belt extenders as we couldn't reach the buckles for the two older kids seats. We've got the baby capsule going behind the driver seat, our oldest in the middle and DD2 behind the passenger seat. But, we'll need the seat belt extenders to be able to put the two bigger kids in.

There's enough space between the front of the capsule and the back of the drivers seat, its just the belt issue we're facing.

I had my first baby seat professionally installed my QLD ambulance and he put it on passenger side in the back not in the middle. I now have 3 children and my baby (6 months) is also in the same spot (backseat passenger side) and again i had her capsule installed by QLD ambl. I have a pajero and I'm short so it certainly helps from that perspective. I would have thought the ambulance guy would have ensured it went in the middle if that was so imperative.
