Default how to get 3 mo old to sleep with demanding toddler????

    Hi,
My 3 mo old has slept almost all of her day sleeps on me (in sling) and willl settle in arms from 7-9pm , the earliest we have manage to put her down was 830pm. She'll sleep in her crib next to my bed until about (with a 1am ish feed) 4am and then she won't go back in so we co sleep

The day sleeps are what I am struggling with. She's just starting to sleep her 9am sleep in pram so I can do something with my toddler, but she's awake by 940 and yesterday it was 920!!!! I can only get her back for 2nd cycle about 10% of time - it can up to 40 mins (then I need to feed her as my supply is shakey - so need to feed two hourly)

What can I do? How can I settle her in crib when I have a, lets say demanding, toddler!? DD1 was a great sleeper as had lots of time to settle her + she easily resettled after 1st cycle. I don't want to put my toddler in front of TV. I am almost at the point of giving up and just letting DD2 cat nap and snack all day!

I'm not much help as I don't have any answers, but my 3mo is doing it too if that makes you feel any better! If she wakes up before DS in the morning, I can get her back to sleep in her cot for 2-3 hours but if he gets up, she will only sleep for 20 minutes unless I am holding her or rocking her in the bouncer.

I've given up trying to get her to sleep longer in her cot. I don't know why she keeps waking up, but I figure if she will sleep better/longer on me, then that is what we will have to do. I don't get anything done, but the baby snuggles are lovely When we are home, DS plays around me or reads with me and we have cuddles. Thought trying to keep him quiet is impossible!

She will sleep in arms about the same time yours does at night and I haven't managed to get her to stay asleep in her cot before about 10-10:30pm.

I'm hoping she will start to sleep longer in her cot during the day at some stage, but for now, I'm just going with the flow. I haven't tried her in the cot for a few weeks. Might try again over the weekend and see if she is still doing it.

with dd i just went with it. i had 2 4yos to chase, so she pretty much catnapped all day.
but she was a good night sleeper, so I didnt mind.
ill probably do the same with bellyfruit.

I think I am just going to have to do that - tried it yesterday and prob was that she did 20 mins at 9am,1 hr at midday and 40 mins at 3pm, then needed another 40 min nap at 530 which pushed her bed time to 9pm! So I really like the routine for the sake of getting them into bed at 7pm but I just can't get it to work!

    That sounds so hard
What sort of sling have you got? Could you try a different one that gives you more freedom to more around with your other child?

Have you tried calling a sleep school? My friend had the same problem with her 3yo and 6 mth old. She is currently in sleep school now with both kiddies.

I could have written your post! Very demanding 2 year old and a 4 month old who would only sleep in my arms from 2-3 months. Luckily now at 4.5 months most sleeps are 40 mins in his cot. All I did was keep persisting in putting him in. Unfortunately the 2 year old has to watch tv while I put the baby to sleep. It is the only thing I could do. Her screaming mummy put the baby down will not help the baby go to sleep! She is finally getting a bit more used to the idea after a very difficult few months. She only ever cat napped so im happy with 40mins!!

I've got an ergo performance fantastically comfortable but back still hurts after wearing her for 4 hours/day.

We are booked into sleep school in a month's time.

I managed to get her down for 1 sleep cycle in her bassinet today! I thought I would go crazy if I tried to resettle in bassinet, so just accepting one and then later if it gets easier I'll try and resettle back for 2. She needs 2, as she falls asleep on boob after if I let her.
